Starting With You: Self Care Ideas

Self Care isn’t about putting yourself above everyone else, but in order for your to give the best of yourself to others, work and your relationships, you have to care about yourself just as much as you would care about someone else.

With this week being National Self Care Week it’s important to take a moment to think about the “why” and the “what” of self care. Self-Care isn’t about putting yourself above everyone else, but in order for your to give the best of yourself to others, work, and your relationships, you have to care about yourself just as much as you would care about someone else.

Imagine it like this. You own a car and you put gas in it, continuing to drive it around town. Eventually the check engine light comes on, but instead of taking that as a warning sign you figure something must just be wrong with the signals in your car so you keep driving. You don’t get the oil changed, you don’t check the fluid levels, you don’t check your tire pressure, you just keep driving. You will literally end up driving your car into the ground because you didn’t care for it enough for it to be capable to care for you.

It’s the same with humans. If you don't take those warning signs you know are your personal warning signs of: working too much, not sleeping enough, not eating correctly, etc., your body is going to break down and make you slow down.

Self-Care, no matter the busyness of life, is a necessity. I firmly believe self-care is in three stages. mental, physical and spiritual. If you only focus on one of those you will cause the three legged stool to fall over. You need to balance out the three evenly in order to have a balanced life.

MENTAL SELF CARE IDEAS

  • Deep clean one room in your home

That feeling when you walk into your space and you know it’s clean is so wonderful. Your mind has more space to be creative or work more effectively if it’s also not worried about having to keep track of where things are or where they need to go.

  • Bake Breakfast

There’s nothing like coffee and a pastry. Morning you will be so excited when they wake up and there is a loaf of banana nut bread, or blueberry muffins to take for the commute to work. You can do this on Sunday night so that for the entire week you don’t even have to think about it. You know that you’re covered for breakfast.

  • Say “No”

Do not feel guilty about this one! It’s actually the opposite. You’re taking care of yourself and paying attention to your body. You know if you’re so tired that you don't really have the energy to go to that party or out to dinner. Listen to your body before it makes you listen. Saying “no” is ok!

PHYSICAL SELF CARE IDEAS

  • Learn one new piece of equipment at the gym

One of the reasons that many don’t go to the gym is because it’s intimidating to look at all of the machines and wonder “what even is that?” Learn one new piece of equipment at the gym so the next time you’re there you already know how to use it!

  • Go outside during golden hour

Go outside and take a walk, don’t go with your cellphone (although this is the best time of day for photography). Go outside just to be outside, see the sunset or watch the sunrise. Take a walk literally around the block to pay attention to the leaves and breath in the cool air.

  • Check to see if you’re due for any doctors appointments

Not everything about self care has to do with bubble baths, although those are wonderful! There are aspects of self care that are important in different ways. Check to see when your last eye appointment, or physical was. Are you due for a new one?

SPIRITUAL SELF CARE IDEAS

  • Take a look inside

When was the last time you had a really hard laugh? What were two things that you did this week that brought you energy? Write down your answers. Knowing those helps guide you towards your larger lifetime goals.

  • What are you listening to?

What’s actually important to you? What to know…check what you’re spending your time on. Are you listening to what the world is telling you is important, or are you sticking with what you know is important. Whose opinion matters more?

  • Realize that it’s ok to practice self-care

I don’t want to start any controversy, but I read an article recently that pretty much bashed self-care for Christians. It was talking about how self-care isn’t of God because you’re not relying on Him, you’re doing other things to function. I personally feel that person had the wrong definition of self-care.

I fully rely on God and I truly believe what He has planned for me will come to pass, and nothing I’m doing when I’m taking care of myself is anti-God. There will always be the potential of the “too much gene” and I do believe you can over self-care, but the actual act of self care isn’t wrong. How can you be your best self for God if you aren’t taking a sabbath and resting. God rested on the 7th day, why would I think I’m better than He is? Why would I feel that I can handle more without asking for help or taking a moment to breathe?

7 WAYS TO CHANGE YOUR MINDSET

FIVE THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY TO TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOURSELF

Have a More Productive Hour of Work

The way you think about an hour of work can change the way you work. You can have a more productive hour of work depending on what you idea of a work hour is.

The way you think about an hour of work can change the way you work. You can have a more productive hour of work by working for twenty minutes than you would have had if you had worked the entire hour.

Two months ago I was having problems focusing. I would start projects, but never finish them. I was sitting in front of my computer with the best intentions to get things done, but after two hours of sitting there I would realize I hadn’t made the progress I was intending to. How was I going to get myself out of this and into a productive mindset?

I started the 20 minute hour. 20 minutes in each area of life, and even if I wasn’t finished with a project, after those 20 minutes I would wrap it up and keep moving. 20 minutes for cleaning the house, 20 minutes to self care: either taking a shower or doing your nails etc, and ending the hour with 20 minutes of working online. Why had I not thought of this sooner!

In that hour I got more done than I had in the last two days. I knew my mind was going to have to work because in 20 minutes it was time to move weather I liked it or not.

Personally, I’ve found that if I do the computer time 20 minutes last then I can the freedom of zoning into a project, but I know that I can’t go to youtube and zone because I only have 20 minutes. I call it tricking your mind into being productive. It’s also amazing how much of your home can be cleaned in 20 minutes if that’s all you’re doing!

Here are some ideas to get you started

IDEAS FOR YOUR 20 MINUTE HOUR

  • PUT A LOAD OF DISHES IN THE DISHWASHER

  • SWEEP THE PORTCH

  • VACUME THE HOUSE

  • CUT THE GRASS

  • SWAP OUT THE LINENS ON YOUR BED

  • ORGANIZE YOUR CLSET

  • TEAMWORK AND PUT AWAY ALL THE KIDS TOYS

  • PUT A LOAD IN THE WASHING MACHINE

  • CHECK YOUR EMAILS, AND RESPOND!

  • DUST

  • DEEP CLEAN THE BATHROOM

  • START OF THAT PAPER YOU’VE BEEN PUTTING OFF

  • HANG UP A WALL COLLAGE

  • TRY ON CLOTHES TO SEE IF THEY STILL FIT AND IF YOU LIKE THEM

  • PAY ALL OF YOUR BILLS FOR THIS MONTH

  • TAKE A BATH

  • READ TO CLEAR YOUR MIND

  • CURL YOUR HAIR

  • LEARN SOMETHING ONLINE ABOUT YOUR PASSION

  • MOVE THE FURNITURE AROUND

  • WASH YOUR CAR

  • FIND 10 ITEMS AND PLACE THEM IN YOUR CAR FOR DONATION

  • BAKE MUFFINS OR A LOAF OF BREAD

Another wonderful benefit of this hour is that you don’t have time check your phone. You’re having an entire hour where you are being so proactive that you don’t have time to scroll. What a wonderful blessing! I’ve learned how attached I am to that little thing, and I don't like it! I don’t like that I feel the need to check it every time there is a notification.

With being a “crumple person” basically I love crumpling the paper that has my “to-dos” on it and trowing it away, I’ve found the 20 minute hour to be one that I feel very satisfied after accomplishing. I know I’ve made progress on my work because I’ve had to solely focus on it with no distractions. I can crumple those sticky notes and throw them away because I’ve completed projects that have been on my mind for weeks, or I’ve at least started on them!

What will you do with your 20 minute hour?

November Goals (10 in 30)

Goals keep your months on track. What are your goals for this month? These are mine!

Get ready people, because it’s going to snow soon! Fall is in full swing and I love that! My tires need some extra pressure before the snow really starts to fall though, so please wait until I do that snow!

1// HALLMARK MOVIE MARATHON

I’m ready! This is not a drill. It’s that time where all of the very cheesy movies come back on of people visiting small towns, or a farm, and they find their “true love”.

2// BAKE A PIE

pumpkin, cherry, or apple I’m not picky! I just want to make a pie. The smell of it in the house is so wonderful, and I honestly don’t think I’ve baked a cherry pie before, so that would be interesting!

3// PREPARE FOR WINTER

So, it snowed again today, and I’m not ready! My heat in my place is still not working, and I really need to put air in my tires. There’s a lot to prep for when it starts to get to that winter time!

I also need more tights. I only have one pair and that isn’t going to work for work. I need a couple new pairs!

4// SLEEP THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF HOURS

I’ve very feast for famine when it comes to sleep. Either I’m getting five hours of sleep a night and drinking copious amounts of coffee, or my body says “enough” and I’ll sleep all day for two days. I want to add this to my balanced life by making sure I’m sleeping the correct amount each night!

5// STICK TO MY BUDGET/ BUDGET WHERE ALL MY MONEY IS GOING

Because of how busy life has been, I’ve been very bad at my budgeting app. I haven’t been following along with everything I’ve been spending. We all have those months, where the bills and life gets away from you and then you realize how much you’re spending on eating out or coffee and it’s shocking! I don’t want to do that this month. If I can save on my coffee and make it at home, then I can purchase my Disney ticket I really want to get for December.

Keep my priorities in line!

6// SAVE 20% ON TOP OF TITHING 10%

Yes I understand this is a lofty goal, but I want to have my life reject what I out loud say my priority are. Therefore, I need to save. I want to be able to have the financial freedom to do what I want when I want, and right now I can’t do that.

I have, worked my way through college, I live off of one income and own my own place, but I’m not there yet. I’m not at that place where I have full financial freedom. I really want to get there!

Further Watching: I love this video by Sorelle: THE REAL COST OF ONE YEAR AS A DIGITAL NOMAD

I thought it was such an honest look at what being a digital nomad looks like for her. Not that I necessarily want to be a digital nomad, bu tI would like to have the financial freedom she’s talking about.

7// DO TWO THINGS PER DAY THAT MOVE ME TOWARDS MY GOALS

It’s almost the end of the year somehow. This year more than most in the past I’ve spend working. I am very grateful to have a job, but I want to make action steps to move me towards my end goals.

8// FINISH UP MY BACK ROOM

There is this one room in my place that keep plaguing me! It’s so unfinished and it has definitely become my catch all. It’s the room in the apartment that when people come over I’m always like “Don’t go in there. It’s unfinished.” I’m tired of saying that. I just want it to be complete!

9// TRY TO GET UP BEFORE 6AM

You’ve all seen the posts floating around about how to wake up earlier, and I’m obsessed with them. I want to be that navy seal that wakes up early and gets everything done before 11am! But I also know me, and I’m a night owl. So it’s going to be a balancing act.

10// BRING SOMETHING TO FRIENDSGIVING/ THANKSGIVING

I’m going to be in Colorado for Thanksgiving this year, and I really want to full on bake something to bring to Thanksgiving. One of my friends has invited me to come to her house, and I don’t wan to show up empty handed!

7 Ways To Change Your Mindset

What you think is what you will become. That is how powerful your mind is! Improve your mindset in simple ways! - AVintageJoy

What you think is so important because, what you focus on you will become. How powerful is that! The more time you spend focused on your goals the closer you will get to them, and the more time you focus on the waters around the more you will start to sink.

How beautiful that the mind is that powerful. That if we are focused on the beauty in life and how wonderful it is outside, when the snow falls, you will love winter! And how beautiful is it that our minds are always evolving. What we think today can grow tomorrow. It can grow deeper and more solid and become a belief or it could start to change and alter our views on a subject.

Here are some action items that you can start today to improve how you think.

  1. Talk to yourself don't listen to yourself

  2. Take a walk around the block

  3. It can be a bad moment, but it doesn't have to be a bad day

  4. Pay attention to your self talk

  5. Give to others

  6. Give to yourself

  7. Write it down

1. TALK TO YOURSELF. DON'T LISTEN TO YOURSELF

When I first heard this, it was one of those mind blowing moments. Yes, it may sound like something on instagram that you would scroll past, but it has helped me personally. When we talk to ourselves out loud we end up saying different things than we would if you were just listening to yourself. Those negative thoughts about your own talents or a situation sound wrong when you say them out loud. You also realize that it's not a passing thought, you start to change how you're thinking because you realize what you're thinking.

If you start to feel anxious about life, talking to yourself and telling yourself the accurate information is so much healthier than listening to your self talk when you’re not in the best metal state to be listening to yourself.

2. TAKE A WALK AROUND THE BLOCK

It doesn't matter if you're at home or at work, take a moment to step outside and literally walk around the block. Getting the fresh air, away from any computer or cell phone helps your mind to start to clear. That daydreaming part of yourself slowly starts to emerge, and it's good for your body in general to be out in the sun.

3. IT CAN BE A BAD MOMENT, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A BAD DAY

When something just goes wrong it doesn't have to define your entire day. If you break something it doesn't have to now have your entire day be about that one moment where something broke. Taking each moment for what they are helps you to not focus on the same moment when it no longer exists.

4. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SELF TALK

Realizing what you say to others and yourself is half the battle. When you take a step back and realize the amount of grace that you may not be giving to yourself it is such a shame. You are wonderfully created.

There is not another like you that ever was or ever will be, how amazing is that!! The purpose of your life only you can fulfill and that's a wonderful thing! Take a moment to think about that! Your self talk should motivate you to work towards your goals, whatever they may be. You are the only you that will ever you! And in the most wonderful way, be proud of that.

5. GIVE TO OTHERS

Improve your thinking, by not thinking of yourself at all! The next time you're getting a coffee purchase the coffee for the next person in line. When you're at the grocery store, purchase some extra breakfast bars to give to someone in need. This one will be soley based on motive if you succeed. Take yourself out of the equation and do something purely for the benefit of someone else! You will have the wonderful reward of feeling refreshed!

6. GIVE TO YOURSELF

Give yourself resources! IF you want to learn about flying a plane, pick up a book! If you want to lear about how to be the best (fill in the blank) reach out to someone you admire that's doing it! Ask your friends to give advice on a step they think you could take to walk in the right direction. If nothing changes, nothing changes!

This doesn’t have to be a big step, but if you take one step today towards your goals that’s a step that not everyone else took today!

7. WRITE IT DOWN

Take your thoughts seriously by writing down what they are and where you want them to be. If you want to have the correct mindset on work or school or a reminder of your "why" you may want to write something like: "I'm working to be able to support myself through school in order to have less dept." or "I'm working for God, not for the praise of man."

Write it down and stick it on the back of your front door, that way you see it every day before you head out. You can write it down in a bullet journal . I use this bullet journal, or it can become something that you say out loud to yourself in order to start your day in the right state of mind.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Things I Wish I Knew In College

College can be hard, but it can also be a wonderful time in your life. Looking back, I wish I had these tips and view points when I started.

In college there were moments when I really wish someone just slightly older was there to help. If you're in that position right now, this is for you. Here are a few things I wish I had known when I was in college.

BALANCE IS IMPORTANT

I know you're going through a lot right now but you can do this. I know you're juggling work, social life, and trying to get good grades. Remember to have balance, because there is going to be a time when you're a senior in college, and just trying to convince yourself up to go to class. There will also be a time later in life that you will be working more than you are now, so have fun on your days off. Don't skip classes all the time, but it's ok to skip every once in a while. (I won't tell if you wont)

DO FUN THINGS

If you’re working your way through college, it’s still important to make time for fun! When you have a break from school, don't work all break, or at least try not to. Take a road trip, go home and visit family, or hang out with your friends. I know that it's hard paying for college but don't spend every weekend of it working. Go to more events. Football games are so much fun! Also go to a basketball game or enjoy a local play!

DON’T GET THE MEAL PLAN

I know you think it's easier to just walk in and eat, but that food isn't well made. Cook something! Yes, you are going to burn a plate or set an oven mitten on fire, but it's ok! When you have a day a week where you and your friends all get together and cooking, cherish that. It's hard to believe, but it's going to go by fast.

You can also bring snacks with you on the bus if it’s a long ride. Don’t forget to eat, just don’t eat because it’s there. Also, don’t get a credit card because you’ll get a “free pizza” if you do. That pizza is not free, in fact it’s actually very expensive when you think about it.

STAY IN CONTACT WITH THOSE THAT MATTER TO YOU, EVEN WHEN YOU’RE STRESSED

Some of those friends will be back from high school, but some of those friends you're making right now. You're going to feel awkward and not want to say hi to the people sitting next to you in class, but it's fine, trust me. I can promise you those people are feeling just as awkward and would like someone to study with. You see them around campus all the time, and you have multiple classes with them, it's nice to have people in your major that you can be friends with.

DON’T THINK TOO FAR OUT

There is a pressure you're feeling to know what you want to do with the rest of your life, ignore that. Definitely pick a major, but you don't have to know from freshman year what you want to do. Between me and you, adults are basically older versions of you who are still learning what they want to do with their lives. It's ok!

BE SPONTANEOUS

Some of your best memories are going to be spur of the moment ideas. As long as those ideas don't hurt your or anyone else, go! Try line dancing, go on a road trip to NYC, purchase the super cheep 1,000 buttons you find at the thrift store.

Towards the later time in college I made friends with the guys across the way by me and my roommate throwing buttons off of our balcony at the neighbors balcony. College is a weird place, full of wonderful possibilities.

VISIT FAMILY AND FRIENDS

If you live in the same state as your family: the drive is really not that bad. Go visit your family and friends! I know if feels like such a long drive, but it's not! If you don't, when you do move farther you will wish that the drive was only 1.5 hours to get home. Make sure you eat your moms food when you go home, it's good!

EXPLORE, EVEN IF YOU’RE SCARED

Don't spend all of freshman year in your apartment watching a crime/ murder mystery show, that place has mold, and you will get mold poisoning! I really wish I had known that!

Especially if you’re new to the city, there are so many new exciting places to search. You can walk around your college lake, explore the library, see a show or go to the museum. Even in you’re feeling introverted there are places to explore and get to know your new home!

APPRECIATE YOUR CAR, IF YOU HAVE ONE

Your first car is not going to be the nicest of cars, but you will love the freedom it gives you. Some people will have really nice cars as their first car, but they also get in accidents and then their car is worth the same as yours.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO BE YOU

It's hard when there is pressure to be someone else to fit it, but that person is lame! Just be yourself, stick to what you believe in, and if you feel like maybe you shouldn't date that one guy, don't! Some people will like you and other won't. If you keep trying to be their friend, it's just wasting your time.

You can't make people like you, it isn't fun but it's true. A lot of the time, the reason has nothing to do with you. They're struggling through things too. Be there for them when you can, and understand that people are flawed.

If you are in college right now, remember just to do your best! If you want to know about my experience in college or need advice. Feel free to ask any questions!

Disclaimer: This post contains an affiliate link on snacks. If you snag those snacks, I would receive a small amount of money. That money is at no additional cost to you, it would in fact help fund more snacks. So really it’s a win win for both of us!

How to Budget for The Holidays

This year, get ahead of the Holidays and start planning now! What are some ways that you can do what you want to this Holiday season and not "break the bank"? Here's how!

Summer is ending and Fall is here! Before we know it snow will be falling and it’s Holiday time! You want to go to all of the Holiday parties, and enjoy fall with friends, but don’t want to “break the bank” as my dad would say. What to do!? I’ve got you covered with some budget tricks you can put into practice now that will help you in the future months.

And for those who found this post in the middle of the Holidays, you’re not too late! There are also tips and tricks you can use now to still be able to enjoy the Holiday season without spending too much!

FOR THE LONGTERM PLANNERS

SET UP AUTO TRANSFER

If you have a larger bank as your banker, you can set up an auto transfer to another account. It’s super easy to change over $10 a week now as opposed to pulling out a larger chunk later.

Let’s break down the numbers. IF you started this, this week you would save $120 dollars without really trying by December 25th. (This post came out mid October 2018). $10 is two coffees that you can make at home instead of going out, or one fast food run that you can eat at home instead.

EACH PERSON GETS A CATEGORY

This is a very simple and very effective step in the planning process. On the notes in your phone make a list of all of the people you need to buy gifts for. When you’re talking with them, and they tell you about something they want, write it on the list!

That way if they don’t have those things by the time the holidays come around you can purchase those items for them, and if you see one of those items on sale you can purchase it in advance!

AUTO TRACK YOUR FLIGHTS

If you’re planning on traveling home for the holidays, set up a tracker on your phone for flights. They’re super simple and most are free. That way when the flight goes down, or the app thinks the flight may go up next week if you don’t purchase it, you can pounce! Flights aren’t cheap, but if you pay attention you can get the most cost effective one!

A sub-tip to this is to look into credit card points. I’m not saying start another credit card! I’m saying if you already have a credit card and are earning points, maybe you could use those point for the round trip or they could at least pay for one way of the trip. Use credit cards to your advantage!

FOR THE LAST MINUTE PLANNERS

WHAT’S FREE?

One of my favorite memories from a pas fall was going to a FREE pumpkin patch with my friends. My original plan was to get a pumpkin we could carve, but the pumpkins were $30…um no thank you! We wen’t to the grocery store and found $6 pumpkins, but I still have the pictures of all of us wondering around! Such a good memory

Do you have a pumpkin patch in your area, or an apple orchard, is there a free corn maze, or a free ice skating rink in the park you could go to? Can you bring hot chocolate, and some cookies and pay Christmas music in the car while roaming around a neighborhood nearby?

MEMORY LANE

If it is last minute and you’re looking for a meaningful gift - What’s a sweet moment you’ve had with a loved one in the past? Maybe you could come up with a fun frame for that moment, or you could put your painting skills to the test and transition that moment into a beautiful painting.

Pay attention to their love languages. Do they value quality time? Are you skilled at cooking? Plan a fun night in with your friends and that can be part of the present as well as a smaller gift. That way you’re having the gift be centered around what they would actually value!

USE YOUR TIME WISELY

You may only have a week or under left before you need to have a gift! Or you may only have a week until you need to be at your family’s house. Take ten minutes and write down each of their likes and random facts about them. That way when your shopping your using time to your advantage, focusing on what you know they like!

For one of my friends it would look like this

  • Teaching

  • Baking

  • Travel/London

  • Dr. Who, Nathan Fillion

  • Comedians

  • Paleo

One Christmas, for that same friend I made felt ornaments. It was in college and I didn’t have much money, but I focused on what I knew she liked! I was so proud of my present to her, and she loved that I took the time to focus on what she would appreciate!

No matter what, this Holiday season take time to focus on what and who is important. Don’t get caught up in all of the hype that advertising will try to push at you. People are what matters! Budget to have your time and your money work for you! Let’s do this!

October Goals (10 in 30)

10 Goals in 30 Days, what are your goals this month? - AVintageJoy

Anyone else super confused how it’s already October!! I was so ready for all of the fall goodness, and then it snowed three days into my Fall. Why you do that weather? It stopped though, thank God!

Also, giving myself some grace this month for posting this like halfway through the month. We’re all works in progress people! Ok, let’s do some planning shall we…

1// Y’ALL! GIRL WASH YOUR FACE IS ON SALE!

IF you haven’t read this book yet. You should! The exact day I was looking into purchasing it, one of my best friends texted me and was like “You need to read this!” It’s that good. It’s easy for us to get overwhelmed and it’s nice to see that you’re not alone! You’ll thank me later, click click.

2// FIGHT THE URGE TO SLEEP IN

I find it so discouraging when I wake up and it’s noon. Like where did my day go! Self care is so important, read about some tips on how to have a full week of Self Care here!, but Self Care is also listening to my body. I’m pretty much done sleeping by hour eight, so why am I laying around when I could be up and doing things!

3// START CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

I love the hunt for the perfect Christmas present, and the earlier you start the easier it is! I have some tips I’ve learned over the years coming soon, but the more I can start to find good items now the less stressed I will be when the Holidays come around.

4// BAKE

Fall is my FAVORITE time of year, I just love that it’s chilly, but I’m not freezing yet. There’s nothing like watching a good movie and baking on a chilly night. This month I want to bake some delicious muffins that I can take with me on the way to work in the mornings.

5// ONE HOUR A DAY FOR MY PASSION!

Even in a very busy day or week, there is absolutely time to find one hour a day to focus on my more longterm goals. I really want to get better at this! Over the past few months, I’ve really been focusing on what my long term goals are and what that looks like. Am I taking one step a day to move towards those goals? Yes!

6// TAKE MY VITAMINS

It’s that time of year again and it has already snowed twice here! Snow, please get out of my fall! I love you, but not yet. I also have been having problems with the heat at my place so thank God for my space heater! I really don’t want to get sick

C.S. Lewis - AVintageJoy

7// CREATE A “QUOTE OF THE WEEK” EACH WEEK

I love speaking to myself more than I like listening to myself. By that I mean we tend to listen to our negative self talk, but when you actually have to say those words out loud you realize how horrible that sounds. A simple way that I like to get out of that habit is to write down a quote that I can read before I head out each day. Something that reminds me of the truth!

8// MASTER AT LEAST ONE BRAID FOR MY HAIR

There is something about braids that seem so fall to me. However, this is a weakness of mine. I am not good at doing my hair. I have mastered the hair straightener curl, which was probably my biggest hair win, but I’m the worst at braids. I really love Abby from TwistMePretty, I can only wish to correctly do one of those braids! This month I’m going to try!!

9// SELF CARE FALL STYLE

I firmly believe that if you don’t do self care mentally and physically you won’t be able to perform your best. It’s definitely easier said than done, but this month it’s time to switch things up a little with my self care. Moving more towards what my body needs in fall. Still focusing on fruits and vegetables, but also making sure my skin has the moisture it needs from drinking water and using lotions. Making sure I’m mentally prepared for the week through mediation and spending time in the Word. It’s time to switch from summer to fall self care!

10// CONNECT WITH FRIENDS

This one is so important! We are made to be in community, and when I’m so busy that I don’t “have the time” for community I feel it. I want to call friends, and go to the movies with friends. Take time to be around those who I truly appreciate, and make sure they know it!
