February Goals (10 in 30)

Planing A Lovely 2019. Make memories not resolutions.

Plan a lovely 2019. Thinking over 2019; it is such a wonderful blank slate. So many possibilities of memories made, and goals fulfilled, and times with friends and family. #makinggoals #2019goals #planningahead #makememories

Thinking forward to 2019; it is such a wonderful blank slate. So many possibilities of memories made, and goals fulfilled, and times with friends and family. How wonderful is that!

Although I do not have an overall resolution, there are some fun things, and overall items that I would like to accomplish in 2019.

MY WORD OF THE YEAR - INTENTION

Last year I started with A WORD OF THE YEAR. One word that I pray flows through my year. My word of 2018 was grateful. It was a time in my life that I really needed to be reminded to be grateful in the times of success and struggle. I needed to be reminded that no matter the timing I had in mind, Jesus’ timing is always better.

For 2019 I’ve been thinking over it, and I believe it is intention. Intention in my decisions, in my career, in my relationship with God, and others. Intention to move towards my goals and make steps to do so.

Intention to spend time in the word and to read more overall!

I also have thoughts and possibilities I would love to come true throughout the year. This year I’m going to speak my goals into existence! I trust, and I’m taking steps towards them!

SEE A LIVE ORCHESTRA PERFORM

How wonderful is that! This is so simple, but to me, that sounds like such a wonderful way to spend a night at the theater!

Who doesn't want to live in Stars Hollow. I want to go to the Founder's day parade, and the Luke's Diner and The Dragonfly inn. I'm ready, bags are packed and I'm looking for my second home!

FOCUS MORE ON MY MUG BUSINESS

Surprise! That exists. FIND MY MUGS HERE! Let me know what you think. I made the mugs that I would want to have but couldn’t find, but I want to make sure more than anything that it’s something that you would like. So please, let me know what you think!

I have this obsession with coffee and in my house there are no cups only mugs, so this just makes sense!

LEARN NEW RECIPIES

While visiting home, I made my grandmother’s cheesecake and I remembered how much I truly enjoy cooking. This year I would like to add more to my repertoire on both the baking side and the cooking side.

It also adds to the healthier side of life, and the self care side of things too which I learned from 2018 is a necessity.

SPEND TIME WITH LOVED ONES

Both friends and family. I want to make sure that my goals are inline. I want to make sure I’m spending the beginning and best part of the day with Jesus and taking time to spend the rest of the day with those who matter.

Sometimes the dishes can wait to watch a movie with friends. It’s also important to make sure to live a balanced life, and sometimes that means having an at home movie night with friends to spend time together and save money!

LIVE A MORE BALANCED LIFE

This year I want to make sure I’m focused on balance. Working to live instead of living to work. I want to make sure that I’m working hard when I’m working, but also giving myself the freedom to unplug when I’m off. Balance is hard, you have to make sure you’re not going too far one way. It can be just as dangerous to tilt too far on the side of relaxation and not working.

Balance is the key for a better week. Self care is both knowing when not to work, but also when it’s important and healthy to work hard!

SEE NEW PLACES

Explore and get outdoors. I want to see at least three new places that I’ve never visited before. Adventure is out there, and I want to experience it!

These are only a few of the experiences and goals I have the intention for in 2019, but you have to start somewhere! DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT.

Do you have a word for each year? What’s your resolution for 2019?

THINKING OVER 2018 - Eat The Banana Pancakes

There are a few days left to think over 2018, and prepare for 2019. However, I challenge you to think about WHO you want to be. Over the next few days, when the stress of x,y, and z starts to creep in, think over who you have been in 2018, and who you want to be in 2019. Celebrate your wins this year, and learn from the times you didn’t.

Good Morning! It’s Holiday time, where we all try to go back home to our families, or we’re happy to not be with our families. Either way it is a stressful time of the year, so what are you doing about it?

There are a few days left to think over 2018, and prepare for 2019. However, I challenge you to think about WHO you want to be. Over the next few days, when the stress of x,y, and z starts to creep in, think over who you have been in 2018, and who you want to be in 2019. Celebrate your wins this year, and learn from the times you didn’t.

I don’t really make goals each year, but I think over principles. This year I wanted to be more grateful than I have ever been. There were days of success and failure, but I kept that in my mind the whole year, and it was a great reminder!

FURTHER READING: LIVE A GENEROUS LIFE

It’s like thinking over one of “those weeks” where either work is very stressful, or family and friends end up being stressful. There’s always decisions in life that you can make that take you one of two directions. There truly are moments where you have to make a decision, and you can chose to make a decision that brings you closer to the “who” that you want to be, or you can make a decision that you’re “suppose to make”.

REASSESS 2018

Taking a set back for our checklists and to-do lists, think about life for a second. How fast life is and how important certain aspects are and how unimportant others are. I remember being a kid and all I wanted in school was this certain backpack. A personalized backpack is huge for kids in school because, if you went to a school with a uniform like I did, it’s the one time where you can choose what you want to wear. It was a tan corduroy backpack with flowers embroidered the bottom right corner. Also, it was a cross body backpack, I was very stylish!

However, looking back, that was not a big life decision. The larger decision I made that year was when another kid in my class decided to be cruel to me, to not be cruel back. That was a life decision. I call it “eating the banana pancakes”

WHAT WERE YOUR PANCAKE MOMENTS THIS YEAR?

Did you choose to spend time with those you love? Did you spend a little too much for the sake of enjoying your time together? Was it worth the money spent? Did you step out of your comfort zone because you know if you eat oatmeal you’ll forget about this later in life? Did you pick something new off of the menu and step out and eat something new? Were you kind to those when others were cruel to you? There is already enough hate in this world, don’t add to it.

I call this moment “eating the banana pancake” because it’s not something super far out there, but it’s a moment where you choose to do something fun, and a little out of your comfort zone simple because you want to have some fun. You take a trip for the weekend to see friends, you go outside an play volleyball, or you take a horseback riding class because it’s something exciting to do a little out of the norm. All of a sudden those little moments of being WHO you were wanting to be, actually add up to those larger life decisions, and you didn’t even know it.

THINKING TOWARDS 2019

That’s how life is. It’s small decisions here and there, some unimportant in the moment and some important that eventually make us into who we are. We choose those decisions, and make those memories for ourselves once we leave home. What decisions will you make through the rest of this year, and into 2019?

What pancakes will you eat, and what others will you save the calories on?

PS: I’m very excited to share with you one of my goals completed for 2018 and starting in 2019. Theres a pretty obvious hint over on my instagram!

December Goals (10 in 30)

It's that time of year! A time to think back over all that you've accomplished #boss and also a time to set some goals for December. Don't let this month slip by, it's can be the biggest game changer for you #monthlygoals #winterwonderland

We have made it to the last month of 2018. Even saying that sounds so crazy!! I’m going to write 2018 and scratch it out so many times next month. This year more than others has gone so quickly. I have spent quite a lot of it at work, which I don’t regret because it has caused me to be where I am right now.

Over the past few months I’ve really been working though what a work/life balance is and what that looks like, and how I want that to look in my life. I’ve been working through who’s opinion matters and who’s doesn’t. I’ve also been working though a lot when it comes to my own expectations. I’ve had a lot of expectations of what this year was going to bring.

I remember at the beginning of the year I wanted to be more grateful than I had ever been. I really enjoy that I did that. I’ll definitely be praying bout what I feel God wants me to focus on next year. I feel like there have been moments and months of this year that I was very grateful, and times where I truly failed in that department.

Let’s put together some goals for this last month of 2018 shall we!

1// FINISH OUT THE YEAR WITH A GRATEFUL HEART

Over the past month there have been some truly hard days. I’ve been faced with some real subjects that aren’t the most fun to think about. I’m very grateful for my health, and my love ones! November being such a difficult month has really had me focused on how grateful I am for the people around me!

2// GO HOME!

This is my most exciting goal this month! I’m finally getting to go home! I haven’t been home in over a year. I don't want that to happen again. I enjoy visiting Florida and Disney and my friends and family! I’m ready for my tan lines!

3// DECORATE FOR CHRISTMAS

Because November was so difficult I really considered not decorating for Christmas at all. This would have been the first year in my life that I didn’t decorate where I was living. Last night I started putting up a few decorations, and I’m glad. You can’t let a difficult season impact a new season!

4// GO TO DISNEY AND/OR UNIVERSAL

Out of the two I will definitely picking Disney, but I would love if I have the opportunity to go to both. I truly do get a Disney itch that I really need to scratch. There’s a Disney magic that you really can’t find anywhere else. I want to see the fireworks! Ohh, but I also want to have butter beer and go on the Hogwarts ride, I’m torn. I also need to save money though, so that solves that dilemma.

5// FINISH WHAT I NEED TO AT WORK BEFORE FLORIDA

Boo work goal, I know. But it’s also important. I really want to make sure my team is set up for success before I have some time on my own. I also am not excited for the hundreds of emails I will come back to, but it’s important to unplug and refresh!

6// GET THE HEAT FIXED AT MY PLACE

Even as I think of my goals, I am sitting next to a space heater, *face palm* , but life gets busy and I have to choose what to focus on. I can make sure work is good and I’m cooking dinner each night, or I can call about a space heater. I need to find the time I know, but for lack of a better phrase, it’s on my back burner right now.

7// ENJOY THE WINTER SEASON

This is another goal that has been difficult. Since the sun has been leaving me at like 4:30pm each day, it’s been hard for me to do anything after work other than come home and start to prepare for bed. Last year was the first time I had been subject to the “winter blues” and I will say I would return to sender if I could! It’s hard to not be a little bleh when you leave and come home from work it’s dark both times.

8// FINISH WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS FOR THE I’M NOT EVEN SURE WHAT TIME IN TOTAL

Every once in a while I start to run through the entire series and I’m about half way though at this point. Every time I find funny moments that I didn’t catch last time, or that I forgot about. I also really love seeing the characters from a new perspective at each age I watch the show! Not sure if I’m going to watch the “A Year in the Life” after, we shall see.

9// COME UP WITH AN ACTUAL SCHEDULE FOR POSTING ON HERE AND ON PINTEREST.

I started using Tailwind for my Pinterest because I’m not even sure how many blogs I’ve seen at this point that use and love Tailwind. I actually really do love it to. I’m still working through what makes sense for me, but I love that I can find something and post it later!

Do you have a posting schedule? Do you use Tailwind?

10// KEEP UP WITH MY SELF CARE

This year has been a major eye opener for me when it comes to self care. I’ve gone from really having no self care or boundaries to realizing how important self care is! I saw how self care, or the lack there of, was really effecting me both mentally and physically! I want to keep up the healthy version of self care, and deepen my knowledge of that moving forward!

There they are! My last 10 in 30 for 2018. If you want to catch up on my other goals of 2018, you can click here!

How do you feel you did on your goals this year? I would love to hear!

November Goals (10 in 30)

Goals keep your months on track. What are your goals for this month? These are mine!

Get ready people, because it’s going to snow soon! Fall is in full swing and I love that! My tires need some extra pressure before the snow really starts to fall though, so please wait until I do that snow!

1// HALLMARK MOVIE MARATHON

I’m ready! This is not a drill. It’s that time where all of the very cheesy movies come back on of people visiting small towns, or a farm, and they find their “true love”.

2// BAKE A PIE

pumpkin, cherry, or apple I’m not picky! I just want to make a pie. The smell of it in the house is so wonderful, and I honestly don’t think I’ve baked a cherry pie before, so that would be interesting!

3// PREPARE FOR WINTER

So, it snowed again today, and I’m not ready! My heat in my place is still not working, and I really need to put air in my tires. There’s a lot to prep for when it starts to get to that winter time!

I also need more tights. I only have one pair and that isn’t going to work for work. I need a couple new pairs!

4// SLEEP THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF HOURS

I’ve very feast for famine when it comes to sleep. Either I’m getting five hours of sleep a night and drinking copious amounts of coffee, or my body says “enough” and I’ll sleep all day for two days. I want to add this to my balanced life by making sure I’m sleeping the correct amount each night!

5// STICK TO MY BUDGET/ BUDGET WHERE ALL MY MONEY IS GOING

Because of how busy life has been, I’ve been very bad at my budgeting app. I haven’t been following along with everything I’ve been spending. We all have those months, where the bills and life gets away from you and then you realize how much you’re spending on eating out or coffee and it’s shocking! I don’t want to do that this month. If I can save on my coffee and make it at home, then I can purchase my Disney ticket I really want to get for December.

Keep my priorities in line!

6// SAVE 20% ON TOP OF TITHING 10%

Yes I understand this is a lofty goal, but I want to have my life reject what I out loud say my priority are. Therefore, I need to save. I want to be able to have the financial freedom to do what I want when I want, and right now I can’t do that.

I have, worked my way through college, I live off of one income and own my own place, but I’m not there yet. I’m not at that place where I have full financial freedom. I really want to get there!

I thought it was such an honest look at what being a digital nomad looks like for her. Not that I necessarily want to be a digital nomad, bu tI would like to have the financial freedom she’s talking about.

7// DO TWO THINGS PER DAY THAT MOVE ME TOWARDS MY GOALS

It’s almost the end of the year somehow. This year more than most in the past I’ve spend working. I am very grateful to have a job, but I want to make action steps to move me towards my end goals.

8// FINISH UP MY BACK ROOM

There is this one room in my place that keep plaguing me! It’s so unfinished and it has definitely become my catch all. It’s the room in the apartment that when people come over I’m always like “Don’t go in there. It’s unfinished.” I’m tired of saying that. I just want it to be complete!

9// TRY TO GET UP BEFORE 6AM

You’ve all seen the posts floating around about how to wake up earlier, and I’m obsessed with them. I want to be that navy seal that wakes up early and gets everything done before 11am! But I also know me, and I’m a night owl. So it’s going to be a balancing act.

10// BRING SOMETHING TO FRIENDSGIVING/ THANKSGIVING

I’m going to be in Colorado for Thanksgiving this year, and I really want to full on bake something to bring to Thanksgiving. One of my friends has invited me to come to her house, and I don’t wan to show up empty handed!

October Goals (10 in 30)

10 Goals in 30 Days, what are your goals this month? - AVintageJoy

Anyone else super confused how it’s already October!! I was so ready for all of the fall goodness, and then it snowed three days into my Fall. Why you do that weather? It stopped though, thank God!

Also, giving myself some grace this month for posting this like halfway through the month. We’re all works in progress people! Ok, let’s do some planning shall we…

1// Y’ALL! GIRL WASH YOUR FACE IS ON SALE!

IF you haven’t read this book yet. You should! The exact day I was looking into purchasing it, one of my best friends texted me and was like “You need to read this!” It’s that good. It’s easy for us to get overwhelmed and it’s nice to see that you’re not alone! You’ll thank me later, click click.

2// FIGHT THE URGE TO SLEEP IN

I find it so discouraging when I wake up and it’s noon. Like where did my day go! Self care is so important, read about some tips on how to have a full week of Self Care here!, but Self Care is also listening to my body. I’m pretty much done sleeping by hour eight, so why am I laying around when I could be up and doing things!

3// START CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

I love the hunt for the perfect Christmas present, and the earlier you start the easier it is! I have some tips I’ve learned over the years coming soon, but the more I can start to find good items now the less stressed I will be when the Holidays come around.

4// BAKE

Fall is my FAVORITE time of year, I just love that it’s chilly, but I’m not freezing yet. There’s nothing like watching a good movie and baking on a chilly night. This month I want to bake some delicious muffins that I can take with me on the way to work in the mornings.

5// ONE HOUR A DAY FOR MY PASSION!

Even in a very busy day or week, there is absolutely time to find one hour a day to focus on my more longterm goals. I really want to get better at this! Over the past few months, I’ve really been focusing on what my long term goals are and what that looks like. Am I taking one step a day to move towards those goals? Yes!

6// TAKE MY VITAMINS

It’s that time of year again and it has already snowed twice here! Snow, please get out of my fall! I love you, but not yet. I also have been having problems with the heat at my place so thank God for my space heater! I really don’t want to get sick

C.S. Lewis - AVintageJoy

7// CREATE A “QUOTE OF THE WEEK” EACH WEEK

I love speaking to myself more than I like listening to myself. By that I mean we tend to listen to our negative self talk, but when you actually have to say those words out loud you realize how horrible that sounds. A simple way that I like to get out of that habit is to write down a quote that I can read before I head out each day. Something that reminds me of the truth!

8// MASTER AT LEAST ONE BRAID FOR MY HAIR

There is something about braids that seem so fall to me. However, this is a weakness of mine. I am not good at doing my hair. I have mastered the hair straightener curl, which was probably my biggest hair win, but I’m the worst at braids. I really love Abby from TwistMePretty, I can only wish to correctly do one of those braids! This month I’m going to try!!

9// SELF CARE FALL STYLE

I firmly believe that if you don’t do self care mentally and physically you won’t be able to perform your best. It’s definitely easier said than done, but this month it’s time to switch things up a little with my self care. Moving more towards what my body needs in fall. Still focusing on fruits and vegetables, but also making sure my skin has the moisture it needs from drinking water and using lotions. Making sure I’m mentally prepared for the week through mediation and spending time in the Word. It’s time to switch from summer to fall self care!

10// CONNECT WITH FRIENDS

This one is so important! We are made to be in community, and when I’m so busy that I don’t “have the time” for community I feel it. I want to call friends, and go to the movies with friends. Take time to be around those who I truly appreciate, and make sure they know it!

September Goals (10 in 30)

September Goals - AVintageJoy

Ya'll, the fall vibes are here and I can finally set them free! It's time to pull out the pumpkins and sweaters, and spices for our coffee! I'm so ready. I truly love summer, and I will be sad to see it go, but I'm ready for the cozy to return!

1// FIND PORTCH FURNITURE

Since it will be getting cold soon, I'm hoping that the porch furniture will go on sale and I can snag some good times for cheap!

2// TAKE A DAY TO GO OUT AND TAKE PICTURES

I really do love photography, like so many of us do. But I feel nervous going out in public with my camera, which makes no sense because so many do it already, but it's something I want to get over. I want to take a day and drive to locations specifically for photography!

3// ESCAPE FOR THE WEEKEND

I've been wanting to go to either Portland or Seattle with one of my friends and I want it to be this month! Even a small weekend trip to explore sounds wonderful!

4// ORGANIZE MY BOOKSHELF

I got one from Ikea specifically because I can add some contact paper to it and have it look like what I want! Or maybe use wood pieces and drill those to the shelves for some dimension, not sure yet! I just need to actually take the time to do that.

5// CONTINUE TO GIVE MYSELF RESOURCES

I'm going to talk more in-depth about this in a later post, but in August I realized I was falling into an incorrect mindset. I want to keep on the path I'm on now!

UPDATE! Check out the post HERE!

6// TIGHTEN UP MY BUDGET

I remember back in school, when I would feel so expensive when I bought actual brands as opposed to the store brand! I kind of miss that Joy, she really knew how to save and budget. Since having a "real job" I've gotten more loose with my money. I want to get a little closer to that Joy excited about the real brands and save that difference for my future! Take myself more seriously! If nothing changes, nothing changes.

7// FOCUS ON THE RIGHT QUESTIONS

When something happens at work or in my personal life, I want to make sure I'm focusing on the real issue. The other day I had someone angry with me at work, but I knew that they were going through something in their life that was the real cause of their frustration. Focusing on the real problem helped me to stay calm and work through what was happening. Sometimes when someone is frustrated it has nothing to do with that particular situation. It's hard in those emotionally charged moments, but I want to make sure I'm focusing on what is really happening in others lives and in my own life.

8// COZY UP MY HOME FOR FALL

It's that time of year and I'm ready! time for the pumpkin everything! If you don't like pumpkin and fall things, I'm sorry! but also, not sorry! I'm Demi Lovato in fall form. (If you haven't heard that song, just ignore me)

9// CHANGE THE OIL IN MY CAR

It's that time again. Exciting goal I know! Try to contain yourself with excitement for me.

10// SEE THE ASPENS

Around this time of year the Aspen trees in the mountains start to turn a golden color and it looks beautiful! They've started a little early this year so some of them have already changed. I want to see them :)

What are your goals for this first Fall Month?
